Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the sports world offered its support for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
