Barça to Host First Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league two and a half years following their departure for construction to commence.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans are permitted inside based on approved permits. Once fully finished, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou earlier this month. The club said they were hoping for permission from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht in December at Camp Nou. Their recent games have been held at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
